Isolationism/Nationalism – What Does That Mean?

Before WWII the United States was steeped in Natioalism and Isolationism. At that time the terms meant that we wanted nothing to do with Europes wars and we had no interest in anything beyond our borders and our protectorates. Charles Lindberg was the Voice of American thinking of the time (Late 30’s) making it very difficult for FDR to generate backing and aid for Europe and England. We were willing to let Hitler and the Nazi’s take Europe and England, as long as they didn’t tread on American Soil. We fealt safe, being oceans away from the conflict. “They started it, let them finish it.”

When we finally did get into WWII it was because of a Nazi ally Japan and their sneak attack on Oahu, Hawaii. The Pearl Harbor attack was a mixed blessing to FDR. He certainly did not want to see thousands of American sailors die in the wanton slaughter, but he did want to get America onto the global scene and immediately declared war on Japan, which caused Hitler to declare war on the United States, which incurred the war declaration on the United States from Hitler.  American went from Isolationism (a policy of remaining apart from the affairs or interests of other groups, especially the political affairs of other countries) and Nationalism (patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts) to Globalism (the operation or planning of economic and foreign policy on a global basis). We occupied both Germany and Japan for 10 years after WWII, and we still, in effect, occupy South Korea some 59 Years after the Korean War. This is certainly not Nationalistic/Isolationistic activity on the part of the United States. In fact if you include support of NATO, SEATO, Iron Curtain Nations, Israel, Palestinians, The Middle East, Preyed upon African Nations, and many other foreign interests you can in no way infer that the Unites States is and Nationalist/Isolationist country.

We have, however, become a more impoverished nation due to our foreign benevolence. We entered trade agreements that have caused the collapse of American industry, we allowed American unemployment to reach unprecedented heights and we have allowed the American middle class to all but disappear. At the same time we have spent trillions upon trillions of dollars rebuilding the German, Japanese and Korean economies and standards of living to level higher than our own. We have spent many trillions in the Middle East and Asia, to the tune of 21 trillion indebtedness.

Finally, after 71 years of give-away programs, along comes a blustering Donald J. Trump to say “Enough, Let’s Make America Great Again”.  As a businessman, President Trump is going to remove all the roadblocks to American Economic growth. What does he mean by that?
1.) Let’s make all participating countries in NATO pay their perscribed share or the cost. (Seems fair and reasonable to me. An agreement is an Agreement.)
2.) Let’s make every country pay the cost of their own defense and military. (What a novel idea.)
3.) Let’s pull out of Climate Agreements that only the United States is adhering to and paying for. (Make the agreement a two way street. When everyone else pays, we pay.)
4.) Let’s do away with punative EPA regulations that only the United States supports and pays the price for. (Sounds fair to me.)
5.) Let’s pull out of Trade Agreements that benefit other nations that stifle American business. (Again, sounds fair to me.)
6.) Let’s pull out of the Iran Deal. (Even though the horse is out of the barn on this one, this makes perfect sense to me, considering Iran is the largest supporter of terrorism, which we and allies are spending trillions to eradicate. Iran also wants to eradicate Israel, which is an absolute no-no for most Americans.)
7.) Let’s Frack.
8.) Let’s tighten up our borders and control immigration into the United States.
a.) Limiting immigration from extreme Muslim Nations until we can develop a system of vetting. (Sounds like a safe and sane policy to me.)
b.) Tight borders make let us know who is coming to join our society. (Social System) (Sounds like a smart thing to do.) I am the son of Danish                     Immigrants who followed the rules of Immigration and Naturalization and contributed to the greatness of this country. Our immigration system is fair to those who do it properly.

President Trump isn’t promoting Isolationism and Nationalism, he is promoting America. We have squandered enough of our wealth, strength and goodness on a world that could care less as long as we keep hemoraging dollars. President Trump wants to hemorage dollars on law abiding, patriotic American citizens. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Hey Commish – Show ‘Em A Day At The Beach

Hey Commish, here’s what you need to do. Since your charges are all twenty to thirty somethings, you are going to have to tell them there was a war way back in the 40’s, called WWII. Tell them that a lot of our boys enlisted for that war effort, went over there, lied about their ages; ’cause they couldn’t wait to kill a few huns. Then, Commish, tell them a little about D’Day, like the fact that 2,500 of those boys died that day, and then show ’em the video above. It’ll confuse them, ’cause it ain’t the typical video they are used to.

Then, Commish, show them a few shots of the memorial at Colleville-sur-Mer, France. Let ’em take all that in. Then, Commish, tell ’em that the requirement for them to continue to play in the NFL, is, they have to find one of the survivors of WWII, (or Korea, Vietnam or The Desert Wars), then walk up to him, then take a knee, and then thank him, from the bottom of his millionaire heart, for the man’s service. Tell ’em, Commish, they better hurry ’cause there ain’t many of those WWII heroes left.

And Commish? If they don’t get it after that………they never will, and we’ll underastand.

Remember This? – Gorsuch And Such

Justice

“So Judge. How do you judge the cases that come before you?”, asks D-NY.
“I judge all cases that come before me on their merit and the rule of law”, replys the esteemed Judge.
“No Judge. How would you really judge the cases that come before you, after all you were appointed by President Trump, you must have some agenda,” asserts the D-NY.
“Senator, as I said, I judge all cases that come before me on their merit and the rule of law”, the esteemed Judge reiterates.
“C’mon now Judge, you must have an agenda somewhere. It’s ok, you can tell us”, D-NY drills, over his glasses with smiling, evil eyes.
“Senator, with all due respect, I have always, and will always judge cases that come before me based strictly on their merit and the rule of law”, says the exasperated judge.”Most of the time I like the outcome, and often I don’t; but I always look to the law for my answers.”
“I can see we are not getting anywhere with your evasive answers, lets move on”, D-NY snorts.

“So Judge. If a case involving abortion were to come before your court, how would you decide?” Asks D-Ca.
“With all due respect Senator, it is against my ethics to answer that question, except to say, I would judge on its merit and the rule of law”, the stalwart Judge answers, going on his eighth hour of continuous questioning.

“So Judge. This immigration ban business will probably come before the High Court. How will you decide?” D-VT asks, yawning and looking at his watch.
“With all due respect, I can’t say how I would decide until I have weighed the merits, and studied the rule of law on the case”, Answers the bleary-eyed, exhausted Judge.

“So Judge. Blah, blah, blah?”, Asks the Senator D-MT.
“With all due respect Senator, I would have to weigh the merits and study the rule of law”, The Judge answers, head bobbing.

“So Judge. Judge? Excuse me, Judge?” Injects the Senator D-CO. “Can someone wake the Judge. I have a very important question for him.”

Shame, shame and double shame on you D-Senators in the Gorsuch Hearings. There is nothing more we can expect from a judge than his blind committment to the rule of law. But that doesn’t fit your agenda does it. Your bias has nothing to do with Merrick Garland, it has nothing to do with President Trump, it has nothing to do with the rule of law, and it actually has nothing to do with Judge Neil Gorsuch. The Democrats are shamelessly bent on stopping everything the new Administration puts forth. Shame, shame, shame on you Schumer, Leahy, Feinstein, Tester, Bennett and the rest of you. You disrespect the country and you disrespect me.

“With all due respect, which isn’t much, You are bringing this great nation down, and, sadly, you don’t care what the consequences are” the author comments.

SEDITION, An Old Word That Needs Reviving

Sedition
SE.DI.TION
səˈdiSH(ə)n/
noun
Def. Conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state
Is SEDITION illegal?
Sedition is the crime of revolting or inciting revolt against government. However, because of the broad protection of free speech under the first amendment, prosecutions for sedition are rare.
Sedition is an old word, that in my opinion, needs to be revived. The First Amendment guarantees that we, United States Citizens, have freedom of speech. It is a guarantee that I have hung my hat on many times in the past, and a right that under no circumstance can be denied. We must all feel that we have a right to express ourselves.
A Senator’s Oath of Office:   “I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
Having offered all of the above, I believe, in my heart of hearts, that Charles Ellis “Chuck” Schumer stepped beyond the First Amendment and went against his oath of office during a NYC Rally against President Trump’s recent immigration order. Schumer, within his rights and oath of office, laid out his beliefs that the immigration order went against everything that America stood for. So far, he is within his First Amendment Rights and just barely within his Official Obligatatory Oath. However, he then pumped and riled the crowd to a frenzy, and at its peak, repeatedly pounded the podium, screeching and screaming, over and over again, “DUMP TRUMP, DUMP TRUMP, DUMP TRUMP”. By doing so, Schumer, in my opinion, overstepped his bounds, revoking his Constitutional Rights and invoked an ACT of SEDITION.
We, law abiding, tax paying, well meaning United States Citizens, have heard so much of this type of oratory lately that we tend to shrug it off as “dissatisfaction and reaction by the losing opposition”. Well, enough is enough, for me at least. The President of the United States is the Constitutionally anointed leader of these United States, which Schumer, and others of his ilk, have Constitutionally sworn to defend, and to bear true faith and allegiance.
“SEDITION”, I shout at the top of my register. Schumer needs, as a minimum to be censured and as a maximum removed from his Senate seat.

I’m Deplorable And I’m Proud

Deplorable

I’M DEPLORABLE AND I’M PROUD

Clinton’s Basket of Deplorables certainly brings up images and thoughts of ‘How the shoe fits‘. The definition of Deplorable is: ‘Deserving of strong condemnation’; ‘Shockingly bad in quality’. Synonyms include: Disgraceful, Shameful, Dishonorable, Unworthy, Unpardonable, Unforgiveable (and more); in other words, pretty bad hombres we deplorables be.

However:

Leaving one of your Ambassadors without protection and security, is a pretty good definition of DISGRACEFUL.

Stealing $200,000 worth of White House property,  is a pretty good definition of SHAMEFUL.

Lying about your e-mails to the FBI,  is a pretty good definition of DISHONORABLE.

And then lying to the American people about the e-mails and the FBI investigation, is a pretty good definition of UNWORTHY.

Deleting 33,000 e-mails just before turning over data to the FBI, is a pretty good definition of UNPARDONABLE.

This whole thing smells of ‘Black Kettles’ and ‘Glass Houses’. If I dug up the entire list, from White Water to the Clinton Foundation I think I could fill a few sheets of 8 1/2 X 11 paper with alternate definitions. Whether exhausted by the flu, pooped by the campaign trail, fatigued by embattlement, Hillary needs to either get new speechwriters or read her speeches before they start rolling by on the teleprompters. Whatever the case, she was inexcuseably off mark, off base and off color with her statement. Gee, what do you know, another defenition, and I wasn’t even trying.

IF THE SHOE FITS, Madam Secretary, WEAR IT, DON’T SWEAR IT.

Gold Star Family

Gold Star Family

When I was a lad of five, it was 1942; the beginning of the United States heavy participation in WWII. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, images like the one above, began to appear discretely in windows in my neighborhood. I asked Mom and Dad what they meant and they told me, in respectful wispers, that the families who displayed the emblem had lost a son or a daughter in the fighting.

In 1943 I noticed more and more of these emblems and some of them had two stars and three stars denoting multiple family members, usually sons, lost their lives. I always looked upon this display with reverence and wondered what the families must be going through, and how they felt about losing a loved one. It must be terrible, I thought, I couldn’t stand it if I lost my cousin Evald or cousin Denny; both of whom, at the time, were fighting in the Pacific. They were both childhood heros to mine, who greatfully came home alive.

My family and I were so happy on September 2, 1945 when General McArthur, marched the Japanese Dignitaries to a table, aboard the USS Missouri, in Tokyo Bay and made them sign the unconditional surrender marking the end of WWII. My Mother took us to downtown Redwood City, CA, in our old Chevy, where we liberated one of the US Flags from a sidewalk pole and drove around the town screaming, cheering and yelling that the war was over. The senseless dieing was done.

A Gold Star Family is as sacred as the Alamo, Gettysgurg, Arlington Cemetery, The Vietnam Wall and every war memorial you can name. It is not to be defamed and it is not to be ridiculed or defiled (spoken ill of). Be very careful, anyone who does, it could be your undoing.
