What Happened to MY Vote?

The first time I ever voted was Tuesday, November 8, 1960. I had just gotten out of the Navy and beginning my new life as a civilian. I remember being very excited at the polls and wanting to get it right. I am a staunch Republican, and I voted for John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who I though was the better candidate at that time. Now, sixty years later, I found myself at the polls, still excited, standing in front of the registrar giving her my name and address. She asked me if I had the ballot that I was sent in the mail and I replied, “No, I neither requested it, nor wanted it, because I vote at the polls, as I always have for the last 60 years. “Did you bring it with you?”, she asked. “No, I threw it in the garbage, full well expecting to vote at the polls like I have for the last 60 years.” I reiterated. “Then you will have to see that man over there and fill out a request for a ‘Provisional Ballot‘ “, she said. “No,” I said, my voice raising a decibel and an octave, “I just want a ballot to vote here at the polls like I have for the last 60 years.” I noticed a stiffening tension in the her and her other cohorts, as I held out my hand for my ballot. “We are sorry sir, but you must see that man over there for a provisional ballot.” I begrudgingly did what I was told and filled out the paper, and 20 minutes later voted ‘Provisionally‘, and walked out, feeling I had been raped.

On December 7, (A date that will live in infamy) 2020  , I received a buff colored voter notification card in the mail, from the Shasta County Clerk, saying that I had been registered to vote as of November 03, 2020, and it was valid for elections on or after 11/18/2020. “Hmmmmm”, I thought, as I picked up the phone to call the registrars office. A nice young gentlemen answered the phone and I explained my story to him and asked him if my provisional vote had counted on November 3, 2020. He put me on hold. When he returned, he told me that there was a note in my voting file (I had no idea it existed), that I had been registered to vote as of 11/18/2020, but that was all. No note that I had voted on 11/3/2020, like I have for the last 60 years at the polls.

That same day I wrote a letter to the esteemed Shasta County Clerk, asking for a written accounting of my vote, and as of today December 31, 2020 I have no answer.

I am going to start the New Year by going to the Clerks Office, to get my explanation. After 60 years of voting and good citizenship (when I was in country) I think I deserve an answer, don’t you?.

Really, Ranking Member? REALLY?

Can I no longer believe my eyes and ears? Can I no longer trust anything people say? Am I the only one seeing and listening? Please help me, I am drowning in a sea of uncertainty and disbelief? GLUG, GLug, Glug, glug, glu, gl, g. bloop.

1.) The Ranking Member said she received “The Letter” from Dr. Ford “in July”. For accuracies sake lets say July 15.
2.) “The Letter” is leaked six weeks later (say September 1)
3.) Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh go through a three week “living hell”, death threats, slander and libel, name calling, pure character assassination and utter distruction of their personal personal reputaions.
4.) On September 27 and 28, Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh testify before the “Senate Judiciary Committee”. (The United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary, informally the Senate Judiciary Committee, is a standing committee of 21 U.S. Senators whose role is to oversee the Department of Justice, consider executive nominations, and review pending legislation.) Their task on the 27th and 28th was to report to the Senate that they did or didn’t recommend Judge Kavanaugh to become a Supreme Court Judge.

The world watched the entire fiasco play out on televisions “gavel to gavel coverage”, and when all was said and done, the Committee in all their indecisive wisdom chose to delay everything for one more week. Democrats smiled and hugged eachother, Republicans shook their heads and Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh just shook at the thought of another 7days of death threats and character assassination.

What really should have happened?
1.) The Ranking Member should have received the letter on July 15th, read the letter immediately contacted Dr. Ford.
2.) The Ranking Member should have asked Dr. Ford if she had any corroborating evidence.
3.) When the answer was no, the Ranking Member should have thanked Dr. Ford for her doing her civic duty, that she, the Ranking Member, could not drag Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh through the mud with unsubstantiated accusations.
4.) If Dr. Ford insisted she wanted to go ahead, the Ranking Member should have informed the Chair of what she had immediately (July 16th) and asked for an Investigation into the matter, BEHIND CLOSD DOORS. The American people and especially the Creepy Porn Lawyer should never have known about this.

None of the following 9 weeks should have happened, unless of course it was the Ranking Members intention to smear Judge Kavanaugh and derail the Committee process. Even if Judge Kavanaugh is guilty of a High School indescretion that occured 36 years ago, he does not deserve to have his entire life nullified. I am appalled Ranking Member. You have made a mockery of the “Rule of Law”. You have lied, leaked and cheated the American People out of a highly qualified Supreme Court Justice Candidate. The Ranking Member needs to be severed from the body. The Ranking Member has just become the Rankest Member.  Mr. Flake certainly is.

Hey Commish – Show ‘Em A Day At The Beach

Hey Commish, here’s what you need to do. Since your charges are all twenty to thirty somethings, you are going to have to tell them there was a war way back in the 40’s, called WWII. Tell them that a lot of our boys enlisted for that war effort, went over there, lied about their ages; ’cause they couldn’t wait to kill a few huns. Then, Commish, tell them a little about D’Day, like the fact that 2,500 of those boys died that day, and then show ’em the video above. It’ll confuse them, ’cause it ain’t the typical video they are used to.

 

Then, Commish, show them a few shots of the memorial at Colleville-sur-Mer, France. Let ’em take all that in. Then, Commish, tell ’em that the requirement for them to continue to play in the NFL, is, they have to find one of the survivors of WWII, (or Korea, Vietnam or The Desert Wars), then walk up to him, then take a knee, and then thank him, from the bottom of his millionaire heart, for the man’s service. Tell ’em, Commish, they better hurry ’cause there ain’t many of those WWII heroes left.

And Commish? If they don’t get it after that………they never will, and we’ll underastand.

I Hate Being So Indecisive

I used to think that Actors and Actresses were kind of ditsy people who couldn’t decide who they were, what kind of life they wanted, or what they wanted to do with their lives. I mean, the average marriage amongst them probably lasts an average of 3 to 5 years, or before the money runs out, or the star fades, or until the sex thing wears off, or whichever comes first. I could never understand how they could play in a shoot-em-up movie, one day, and then be in a gun control ad the next. It seems strange, to me, that they puff on cigarettes in a movie, and then take money for a ‘stop smoking ad’, because they care. Seems more like double dipping to me. But the ones that get me the most are the ones that host lavish parties, costing millions of dollars, for political entities like Obama, who then feels he needs to contribute millions of our taxpayer dollars to Ruanda, rather than veterans. Why don’t they just send the party money to Ruanda, and stay home and watch one of their movies, or TV reruns.

Although I still hold onto those thoughts, I’m now wondering if it isn’t their fans and followers that are ditsy. I mean watch the fans fall all over the celebs at the Oscars, screaming, sobbing, throwing undergarments, waving their arms, quite a scene actually. I can’t understand why the fans hang one every word the celebrity utters at Political Rallys, Political Conventions, Political ads. The celebs are certainly entitled to their political opinions, leanings and ideologies, but they don’t know any more about what they are talking about then does the man on the street, but yet thousands of fans look up and drool as Katie Perry says, “Can’t we all just love on eachother”. As profound as that statement is, I have no clue what it does to combat terrorism, fix immigration laws or ‘Make America Great Again’.

So now I’m lost, at an impass, pondering and posing who is the ditso, the one who can’t figure it out, or the one that idolizes him/her.

Media Lies – The Border Wall

It infuriates me when the Media out and out lies to make our President look bad. We all know that President Trump ran on the “We’re gonna build that wall folks, that I can tell you,” platform. 63,000,000 people supported that platform, me included. A secure border, with a country that disrespects our sovereignty, is a necessity. (Note: We don’t have a wall with Canada.) Trump is working very hard to make the wall a reality, and the News Media, for some unfathomable reason, is doing everything it can to stop it.

Last night I was watching CBS Evening news, which Trump bashed for at least 60% of the time, and a stalwart reporter came on to report on the wall and how it was coming along. She blurted out every negative thought she could concerning the wall and then ended with, “It could cost the American Taxpayer as much as 40 Billion (with a B) dollars…….Anthony.”

“Wow!” I said, “How can that be?”

Forty Billion dollars is $40,000,000,000. If we build the wall over every foot of terrain between the US and Mexico that would be approximately 2,500 miles. Do the math and that means, according to CBS News, the wall will cost the American Taxpayer $16,000,000 per mile. That is $16 Million dollars per mile. As a person who has spent his life in the construction business, I would kill to build every single mile of that wall. The reporting is misleading and irresponsible. Shame on you News Media. Shame on you.

Remember This? – Gorsuch And Such

Justice

“So Judge. How do you judge the cases that come before you?”, asks D-NY.
“I judge all cases that come before me on their merit and the rule of law”, replys the esteemed Judge.
“No Judge. How would you really judge the cases that come before you, after all you were appointed by President Trump, you must have some agenda,” asserts the D-NY.
“Senator, as I said, I judge all cases that come before me on their merit and the rule of law”, the esteemed Judge reiterates.
“C’mon now Judge, you must have an agenda somewhere. It’s ok, you can tell us”, D-NY drills, over his glasses with smiling, evil eyes.
“Senator, with all due respect, I have always, and will always judge cases that come before me based strictly on their merit and the rule of law”, says the exasperated judge.”Most of the time I like the outcome, and often I don’t; but I always look to the law for my answers.”
“I can see we are not getting anywhere with your evasive answers, lets move on”, D-NY snorts.

“So Judge. If a case involving abortion were to come before your court, how would you decide?” Asks D-Ca.
“With all due respect Senator, it is against my ethics to answer that question, except to say, I would judge on its merit and the rule of law”, the stalwart Judge answers, going on his eighth hour of continuous questioning.

“So Judge. This immigration ban business will probably come before the High Court. How will you decide?” D-VT asks, yawning and looking at his watch.
“With all due respect, I can’t say how I would decide until I have weighed the merits, and studied the rule of law on the case”, Answers the bleary-eyed, exhausted Judge.

“So Judge. Blah, blah, blah?”, Asks the Senator D-MT.
“With all due respect Senator, I would have to weigh the merits and study the rule of law”, The Judge answers, head bobbing.

“So Judge. Judge? Excuse me, Judge?” Injects the Senator D-CO. “Can someone wake the Judge. I have a very important question for him.”

Shame, shame and double shame on you D-Senators in the Gorsuch Hearings. There is nothing more we can expect from a judge than his blind committment to the rule of law. But that doesn’t fit your agenda does it. Your bias has nothing to do with Merrick Garland, it has nothing to do with President Trump, it has nothing to do with the rule of law, and it actually has nothing to do with Judge Neil Gorsuch. The Democrats are shamelessly bent on stopping everything the new Administration puts forth. Shame, shame, shame on you Schumer, Leahy, Feinstein, Tester, Bennett and the rest of you. You disrespect the country and you disrespect me.

“With all due respect, which isn’t much, You are bringing this great nation down, and, sadly, you don’t care what the consequences are” the author comments.

SEDITION, An Old Word That Needs Reviving

Is SEDITION illegal?
Sedition is the crime of revolting or inciting revolt against government. However, because of the broad protection of free speech under the first amendment, prosecutions for sedition are rare.
Sedition is an old word, that in my opinion, needs to be revived. The First Amendment guarantees that we, United States Citizens, have freedom of speech. It is a guarantee that I have hung my hat on many times in the past, and a right that under no circumstance can be denied. We must all feel that we have a right to express ourselves.
A Senator’s Oath of Office:   “I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
Having offered all of the above, I believe, in my heart of hearts, that Charles Ellis “Chuck” Schumer stepped beyond the First Amendment and went against his oath of office during a NYC Rally against President Trump’s recent immigration order. Schumer, within his rights and oath of office, laid out his beliefs that the immigration order went against everything that America stood for. So far, he is within his First Amendment Rights and just barely within his Official Obligatatory Oath. However, he then pumped and riled the crowd to a frenzy, and at its peak, repeatedly pounded the podium, screeching and screaming, over and over again, “DUMP TRUMP, DUMP TRUMP, DUMP TRUMP”. By doing so, Schumer, in my opinion, overstepped his bounds, revoking his Constitutional Rights and invoked an ACT of SEDITION.
We, law abiding, tax paying, well meaning United States Citizens, have heard so much of this type of oratory lately that we tend to shrug it off as “dissatisfaction and reaction by the losing opposition”. Well, enough is enough, for me at least. The President of the United States is the Constitutionally anointed leader of these United States, which Schumer, and others of his ilk, have Constitutionally sworn to defend, and to bear true faith and allegiance.
“SEDITION”, I shout at the top of my register. Schumer needs, as a minimum to be censured and as a maximum removed from his Senate seat.

The Voice That Was Heard.

Please read this, it will shock you.

Heartland

When I looked at this image, posted on my Facebook several days after the election I asked myself, “whose voice was heard November 8?”. It certainly wasn’t Black Lives Matter, that movement resides in the blue. It most certainly wasn’t the Anti-Police movement, they also reside in the blue. It unquestionably wasn’t the Anti-Second Amendment folks, they definitely reside in the blue. It couldn’t have been the Fat Cats, they all live in the blue. So who was it?

Must have been the Rancher and the Farmer, they live all over the red. Must have been the coal miner, the Appalacians are definitely in the red. Could it have been the Factory worker, he lives all over that area south of the Great Lakes Erie and Ontario. The voice I heard was the a quiet, resolved voice of the Heartland. The Pioneer stock, the forgotten, the few, the soul of America. Now compare the above map with the map below, and what does that say to you.

The tall green spikes represent the areas of America that contribute the largest amounts of dollars to the economy. Is it getting clearer now? The green spikes might as well be blue, and the gray area might as well be red. All of the big money interests in our economy supported Clinton, and those who feed us, clothe us, and put roofs over our head backed Trump. Why is it then that for the last 18 months we have been hearing how Clinton was for the little guy, and Trump was for the big money people.

I don’t know about you, but this was a revelation to me. Make America Great Again.

The Pendulum Has Swung

The American people have spoken, their voices were heard, the Pendulum has swung. What has resonated most soundly with me is the clarity of Trump’s take on the American pulse, and the incredible fight he put forward to make it heard. The Media was against him. The Establishment was against him. His own party was against him. While this was going on, I clearly heard him say, “It doesn’t matter that the Media is Biased, that the Election is rigged, that Republican party is against me, we have a movement, we have the support of the American people”. He was clear and confident that he was speaking the voice of America. It is what held me loyal and true, through thick and thin. I rejoice today, not so much in our win, but in our abilities as Americans to see our future clearly and react.

As hard as it will be, we must all now come together. Not because Trump says so, or Clinton says so, or Obama says so, but because the American people say so.
